With the American summer upon us, it is now officially the blockbuster season, so most of the time the trailers coming out are the big blockbusters in the next six months or so, like Cowboys & Aliens and The Green Lantern.
However, sometimes, a smaller film pops up that was not on the horizon for anyone, and while it may not have been something that everyone was dying for, it still is a delightful experience to see it is getting made.
That was the case for me when the trailer appeared for The Inbetweeners Movie. For anyone who has seen the British comedy show, based around four teenage boys trying all they can to fit in and get laid, it is crude, brash, and obnoxious at times, but you cannot doubt that its funny.
Now it seems they are about to hit the big screens, with the trailer pointing to the usual fare of four guys away on school break in some party atmosphere town (if I was going to wager a guess I would say it is the usual location of Ibiza). Not much is given away, but given the tone of the show I would be fair to assume that it will involve all four trying to score with the opposite sex, with disastrous results.
I am taking this trailer with a big grain of salt, mainly due to the fact that we have seen some good results of British shows turned in films, but we are always left with the horrible reminders of what happens when it goes all bad (and unfortunately, the closest film that matches the comedic tone and setting is the horrendous Kevin and Perry Go Large), so it could be as good as the show, or it could be an absolute shambles.
Either way, I am looking forward to what they can deliver.
